Oil on canvas is the form I use the most, owing to the wonderful texture these materials give. Painting marks and brushstrokes can often be used in areas of oil painting. They give artworks a three-dimensional, almost textile quality that can completely transform a composition and give it more movement and energy. More on mediums.
